Stephen Brenkley (Teesdale '71) has been shortlisted for the MCC-Cricket Society Book of the Year Award. His book, A Striking Summer. How Cricket United a Divided Nation (Fairfield Books) tells the story of the epic 1926 Ashes series against the backdrop of the General Strike and a country on the verge of revolution. It features OB George Macauley who played in the series and remains the only OB to have played cricket for England. The author is the former chief cricket correspondent of the Independent and Independent on Sunday and is president of Barney Cricket Club.
