Commemoration of Bentley Beetham's legacy

It was an honour to attend a special commemoration event this morning in recognition of OB Bentley Beetham’s amazing legacy as a respected teacher, ornithologist, photographer and mountaineer. We joined dignitaries and regional media at the official unveiling of a plaque at the former home of Bentley, in nearby Cotherstone, where he lived as member of the famous 1924 British Mount Everest expedition. This year, the Barney and OB communities have enjoyed recognising Bentley’s magnificent achievements through a range of events and initiatives, and today’s ceremony was a wonderful culmination of our celebrations. |
